Five things we learned from Hull City’s 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion

Hull City’s three-game winning streak was ended by West Brom at the KCOM Stadium yesterday. Here are five things we learned from the Tigers’ 1-0 defeat-

1. Missed opportunities- City failed to put chances away and missed opportunities through Kamil Grosicki and Jackson Irvine, which they can’t afford to do against a team of West Brom’s quality.

2. Showed ability to compete against strong sides- Grant McCann’s men matched the in-form Baggies throughout the 90 minutes and proved tough opposition for the Championship table toppers. On another day the result could have been different.

3. Four points off the top six- The Tigers remain in touching distance of the Play-Offs going into the international break and are in a much healthier position then the last break. They face Middlesbrough, Preston North End and Barnsley in their next three matches.

4. Impressive display by Jordy de Wijs- The Dutch defender has established himself as one of City’s most important players and put in another strong performance yesterday against Slaven Bilic’s side. He has been offered a new contract and Hull fans will be hoping he puts pen to paper.

5. Jon Toral will be missed- He has been ruled out for around three months with a knee injury which is a big blow for McCann. The Spaniard has been in impressive form over the past three games before yesterday but has been hit with injury once again. He will not be seen until 2020 now.
